This is my main keyboard, I use it to record covers, is fully weighted, great speakers, a screen, many features. I'd recommend it if you know for sure you want to play piano for a long time. Its very heavy and can't be moved easily.
But, if you JUST want to learn the piano, on a budget don’t buy it!!!!!!!
YAMAHA DGX-670
If I was more price conscious, i'd buy the P-45 as my first "legit" piano, simply because the DGX-970 extra features are mostly for convenience. I've tried it at piano shops and it felt very similar to the dgx 670 in feel.
If you want to buy ONE piano in your life, it would be this one.
YAMAHA P-45
I love this piano because its very lightweight, can be battery powered for use in a park, and still force sensitive. It’s not a "true" electric piano, but if you're interested in performing for people and want to spend even less than the p-45.
It’s also 61 keys, which isn’t a limiter for basically any pop or jazz, but could be an issue if you want to do classical music. But it makes it more convenient to carry around
Casio C-S410
I used this thing for 5 hours a day for 8 weeks straight while backpacking through Europe. it was wonderful for that purpose and genuinely brought me from knowing chords and reading lead sheets out of time to singing while playing full songs in front of strangers.
Its incredibly light, and can be brought anywhere. The only person I wouldn’t recommend it to is someone who loves classical music, or anyone who already knows they want to play seriously.
If you want to learn pop piano and can sing and want to see if piano could be for you without taking a financial risk, you gotta buy this one, because even if you buy another piano later, it fills a specific niche: getting used to playing in front of strangers and acquaintances. You can’t just bring a full sized piano anywhere!
